Upcoming music vid - Wonderwall

So I found inspiration from one of my favourite songs performed by Alex (Nerimon).

It's a working progress on some cool footage I got but since editing this together and listening carefully to the words; I been thinking up so many more ideas on how I want this music video to be.

I just messaged Alex for permission to this song; if your reading this dude I hope you like it.

Here's a sample of what I got so far:

The Caerphilly Witch Project

video

So me and Tom decided (well ‘I’ decided) to just get out there and do some serious filmmaking. Its been ages since my last YouTube video but I wanted to have a go at some dramatic acting and character driven films.

When we first looked over the footage, the acting looked amazing and frighteningly real. Despite all the shouting and drama, the whole performance lacked in any progress and changes between the characters.

A good film would have a narrative that develops its character and have them change throughout the story, but all I see in this film is me and Tom constantly at each others throats without actually resolving our differences.

If you seen Memento and the Blair Witch Project then you’ll already have a pretty good idea on what to expect from this vid. I copied the reverse style of Memento because I found it more interesting to begin with the fall-out between two friends arguing and follow the story backward as their dispute unfolds.

You’ll probably agree with me when I say – there is too much swearing in this film.

This video is the first serious piece of Gorilla filming with my new Sony HDR-FX1 (similar make to the HVR-Z1) and I just love this camera.

Filmed in progressive 25P with the ‘Cinema Tone’ film effect on HDV. With both these settings used the footage looks so much like 35mm film stock however the lighting could have been better if I left the Auto Gain Control switched on.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this and please leave a comment; I’d like to hear your thoughts and feedback.

My YouTube problems

My problem with youtube is that I concentrate so hard on making a video to satisfy my subscribers that I forgot about what it is to make videos just for myself.

The more subscribers I have earned, the harder I find it to upload another video simply because I see my subscribers as an audience all looking to me with high expectations; like an audience who expect this fantastic show. My biggest fear is to disappoint them.

I have fallen into the trap of being too concerned over what other people think of me, too concerned about loosing subscribers that it takes me longer than ever to upload a new video.

My recent three videos were made purely for myself (artistic filming, jumper spoof and cliff fall) and that’s what I need to get back into doing.

I need to be selfish for once; forget about the audience and remember what it is that I enjoy most.
