Mhairi's Birthday weekend

This weekend was so awesome, it knocked me out like a hangover.

My weekend started on Thursday with a big welcome from the lads and gals on upstaged, it was so cool when they all cheered my name I felt so special. I was surprised to see Martyn there (standinglikestatues) but I think he was more surprised when I invited him to come along with me to Mhairi's birthday.



There was some funny moments at upstaged where Myles (blade376) put us on the spot, he asked me to charade a fairground game. Trust me to not pay any attention, I ended up looking likea retard with ideas already mentioned. I met a girl there too, Ellie; she's as cute as Julia Stiles and I got more than I expected when I asked for a valentines kiss. I'm so gonna see her again. This valentines day was special.


We stayed at the Birds Nest hostel, everyone had drinks and a good time but Mhairi had an early night coz she was so sleep deprived from earlier in the week. The action started when everyone got back to the hostel room Sinead and Martyn were pissed in the bunk above me.

Here's how it was made:

Shot with a Sony HDR-HC3 set into 'Cinema Effect' mode (25p) and using an 'ND8' neutral density filter.

Edited with Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 and cropped into a '2.4:1' apect ratio (using a crop tool reduce height to 74% or 13% for top and bottom).

Some of the shots like the frog close-up and the waterfall ending are enhanced with the 'Warm & Fuzzy' film effect from Magic Bullet (additional plug-in for Premiere Pro).

Exported into un-compressed AVI at 480x200 (2.4:1 aspect) and exported again using QuickTime Pro into a 320x240 (youtube native) video compressed with the H.264 codec before finally uploading.
The HD video for download is compressed into DivX at 1280x532 pixels (720 equivalent).

It was by pure chance that I spotted the frog swimming around in my friends slimey green swimming pool.

I had no idea I would end up with a romantic Froggy video but damn it looks good.

Inspirational Brick Walls?

So now my title is a rhetorical question?

The meaning behind this one is that I have some severe form of 'writers block', rather like hitting a brick wall when you do not know what to do next and in this case I seem to have no inspiration right now for my next video.

Maybe its because because my musical ambitions have made little to no progress aside from some experimenting with musical notes and melodic sounds.

I keep reminding myself its been a month since my last video. I always like to take my time to make good quality videos but this is getting rediculous.

Music Time

Right now I have a piano keyboard hooked up by my side because the last few days I have been attempting to recreate my own version of 'Nina Simone - Aint got no, I got life'; why am I trying to recreate it you ask? Well its been a month since making my last video on YouTube and I want my next video to be something special.



The song itself is ambitious but the video idea behind it is even bigger. Almost as big as my 777-Beep Hello video. The only problem is bringing this song to life; I know how I want it to feel and how it should sound, but the hardest part is finding the correct notes on the keyboard.

My dream with music is not only to have non-copyright music of my own that I can share but also to make money from it someday. Kinda like Ronald Jenkees who fluently plays the piano, makes music for fun and then earns money from selling the mp3's/cd's.

Well I got some possible media jobs coming up this month, I hope this opportunity can earn me a more creative living in the long term than another 9-5 job.

The First Blog of Many?

So I have wanted to get into blogging along with many of my other hobbies, but keeping a diary and journalistic blogging has always been an aspiration of mine.

I would like to introduce myself - my name is Jonny. I call myself a YouTuber because filmaking and YouTube'ing has played a major role in my life so far. The magic of YouTube has found me many new friends (and I mean close friends that I talk to and see frequently) and opened up opportunities for me in the media.

I currently lead more of an online life under the title "JDM525", should you google the word you will find my accounts for MySpace, YouTube, LiveSpaces(windows live/msn), Stickam, etc etc.

I currently hold a few written blogs over at MySpace but for a while I have been looking for an official place to host my blogs, now I think I found it. You may also find some of my older blogs from MySpace moved over to here soon, who knows.

All my life I have been a filmaker, inspired by great storytellers and visualists like Speilberg, M Night Shyamalan and James Cameron. While filmaking will always be my 'thing' I am also opeining up to music making. Most of my video work and stylistic editing is influenced by music that I hear and use in a video (on YouTube: 'If im Ugly', 'Mirror blog-Presley Madness')
I am currently persuing a new hobby in music production so I no longer need copyright music for my videos.

I would like to finish this blog with a special video that is close to my heart, a video that explains my love for YouTube and its community, its called: Boxed In
